Growing up in Westwood, Kansas, with ten siblings, I can remember sitting under our Christmas tree arranging and re-arranging presents for hours. There were endless possibilities to play with color, shapes and patterns.

Knowing that I wanted to pursue my passion of working with texture and color, I went on to earn my BFA in Textile Design from The University of Kansas. After moving to California, I worked as a textile artist for Hoffman Fabrics, as well as The Walt Disney Company and Mossimo.

As an artist, I am drawn to beautiful fabric. In my studio, I create and manipulate pillow front designs for hours on end. It takes me right back to my childhood sitting under the Christmas tree. During my spare time you will find me hiking where I am surrounded by color and dramatic changes of light. These elements of nature continue to inspire me.

My entire collection of Kimiko Design pillows are one-of-a-kind and handcrafted using reclaimed fabrics, whether a Japanese obi or a remnant of designer fabric which I then repurpose into unique pillows. I hope you enjoy these pillows as much as I enjoyed designing them!

I live, work and hike in Pasadena, California, with my husband who is also an artist.
